Q Who is Hamilton Software?
Hamilton Software (HSI) is a Colorado company dedicated to creating software for
individual investors and money managers. We offer a family of independent
applications covering portfolio management, performance measurement, technical
analysis, and retirement planning. We began developing and selling software for
investors in 1984, and incorporated in 1989. Through our 25 year history, our products have seen
international retail distribution, received endorsements from experts across the
investment industry, and are used by thousands of individuals and businesses.
Q Is Hamilton Software GIPS®-compliant?
GIPS® (Global Investment Performance Standards) is the global standard for performance reporting administered by the CFA Institute
(formerly the Association for Investment Management and Research ("AIMR")). GIPS is the updated standard replacing AIMR-PPS.
If you're a professional, your prospective clients may expect you to be GIPS/AIMR-compliant. Some of our products use GIPS calculation methods, which you
are required to use for compliance. Software programs (and vendors) cannot claim GIPS compliance,
only firms with assets under management can. Neither we nor our products can claim to
be GIPS-compliant, but some of our products can help you become
GIPS-compliant by using calculation methods necessary for compliance.
Full GIPS compliance is composed of many requirements of which calculation methodology is only one. See our Resources page for links
to learn more about GIPS and the CFA Institute.
Q What are the costs for Hamilton Software products and support?
There is only a one-time fee to purchase a software license for any of our products. Minor updates can be downloaded from our website for free until
the next version is
released. After that, you can optionally upgrade to the latest version for an upgrade fee
(which is posted on our website) at any time in the future. We release new versions
approximately once a year (see our Upgrades page).
We provide FREE email and telephone technical support
(see our terms), so there are no ongoing costs!
You must purchase a separate license for each separate installation of a product if you will have multiple users.
Our products can be downloaded, so shipping is not necessary, however we
ship hardcopy for a fee at your option.
Q Is there a discount for multiple licenses?
Yes. You get 20% off each additional copy of the same product purchased in the same order. Call us at 1-800-733-9607 for assistance with discounts.
Q How does the free trial work?
You can download or install any of our programs directly from our Downloads page. Once you run the installed program, it will be fully functional for
10 days, during which you can explore
it completely using your own data. After 10 days, the program will cease to run, but it and all of your data will remain installed on your machine.
If you wish to continue using it, you place a purchase order on our website and we will send you an activation code which will re-activate the
program installed on your machine (or the latest version if you re-download it) and allow you to continue using your data. You can try
as many of our programs as you like, and you can test upgrades without affecting programs you've already purchased from us. You have nothing to lose!
Q What operating systems do HSI products support?
All of our software runs on Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP, Vista, and 7.
